Intra-operative diagnosis

Indication for seeking intra-operative advice:

• To know the precise nature of tumor will affect the surgeon's intraoperative management during a definitive surgical procedure.
• To obtain biopsy material for a definitive histopathological diagnosis.
• Where a radical excision is being performed on a tumor of known diagnosis and the surgeon needs to know the margin of the lesion.

It can be done in form of frozen section, intra-operative cytology (squash) & imprint.

Reporting time: 10 minutes after receiving the sample.
